Privacy notice
GO UK Consulting LTD ("we", "us", "our") is aware of its obligations under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, and is committed to processing your data securely and transparently. This privacy notice sets out the types of data we hold on you as a client, prospective client or worker of GO UK Consulting LTD, how we use that information, how long we keep it, and your rights in relation to it.
This notice applies to current and former clients, prospective clients (including website visitors who submit enquiry forms) and workers.
1. Data controller details
GO UK Consulting LTD is a data controller, meaning that we determine the purposes and means of processing your personal data. You can contact us at sales.go@consltd.uk for any data protection enquiry.
2. Data protection principles
In relation to your personal data, we will:
- process it fairly, lawfully and in a clear, transparent way
- collect your data only for reasons we have communicated clearly
- only use it in the way we have told you about
- ensure it is accurate and up to date
- keep your data only for as long as we need it
- process it in a way that ensures it will not be used for anything you are not aware of or have not consented to (as appropriate), lost or destroyed
3. Types of data we process
We may hold the following types of data about you, depending on the services you request:
- personal details including your name, address, date of birth, email address and phone numbers
- marital status, dependants and next of kin contact details (where relevant for benefit applications)
- documentation relating to your right to work in the UK
- passport, driving licence or other ID for identity verification
- bank account details (for tax refund processing)
- tax codes, UTR number and National Insurance number
- income, expenses and self-employment records
- Companies House information (for Limited Company clients)
- HMRC correspondence, tax returns and accounts
- medical or health information including disability status (only where strictly necessary for benefit applications such as PIP, DLA, ESA)
4. How we collect your data
Data is collected directly from you when you complete our website forms, send us emails or WhatsApp messages, or provide documentation (such as bank details, ID or right-to-work evidence). We may also receive data from HMRC, Companies House or other government bodies acting on your authority and instructions.
Your data is stored on our secure Microsoft 365 / cloud accounting systems, with access restricted to authorised members of our team.
5. Why we process your data
The law on data protection allows us to process your data for certain reasons only:
- in order to perform the contract we have entered into with you (the provision of accounting, tax or advisory services)
- where we have a legitimate interest (such as preventing fraud, marketing our services to existing clients)
- in order to comply with legal obligations (such as HMRC filing requirements, anti-money-laundering checks)
- where you have given us your consent (such as receiving marketing emails)
6. If you do not provide your data to us
We need certain data to carry out our duties for you. If you do not provide us with this data, we may not be able to perform the services you have requested or may be prevented from continuing to act for you (for example, if we cannot verify your identity under anti-money-laundering rules).
7. Sharing your data
Your data is shared internally only with members of our team who need it to provide your service. Externally, your data may be shared with:
- HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC)
- Companies House
- Department for Work and Pensions (for benefit applications)
- our cloud accounting providers (such as Xero, QuickBooks or FreeAgent) where required to deliver our service
- our IT and email providers (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace)
- professional bodies and regulatory authorities where required by law
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not transfer your data outside the UK or EEA without appropriate safeguards.
8. How long we keep your data
We retain client records for a minimum of 6 years from the end of the tax year to which they relate, in line with HMRC and Companies House requirements. After this period, your data is securely deleted. We retain anti-money-laundering verification records for 5 years after the end of our business relationship with you, in line with statutory obligations.
9. Your rights in relation to your data
The law on data protection gives you certain rights in relation to the data we hold on you. These are:
- The right to be informed — this is the purpose of this privacy notice
- The right of access — you may request access to the data we hold about you (a subject access request)
- The right to rectification — to have any inaccuracies in your data corrected
- The right to erasure — to ask us to delete your data where there is no overriding reason for us to keep it
- The right to restrict processing — for example, if you contest the accuracy of the data we hold
- The right to data portability — to receive your data in a structured, commonly used format
- The right to object — to processing based on legitimate interests or for direct marketing

10. Cookies and website data
Our website uses essential cookies required for the site to function. We also use analytics cookies (Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use our site. You can decline non-essential cookies via the cookie banner. We may use Meta Pixel or Google Ads tracking on marketing pages for the purpose of measuring advertising performance, where you have given consent.
